     His turquoise gaze swerved to the sharp tool that had been at his side for a quite long time now, resting in its hilt, and then back to the man who had addressed the question to him.

    “My sword serves as an item to enforce and handle some of my magic, but it can function just as well as actual weapon. Of course I do have some skill with it; in fact my swordsmanship abilities are a mastery of mine and the training itself has multiple benefits.” Excellent training for body and mind, and one he wouldn’t want to miss during his usual training routines.

      Oh if looks could kill… (well, technically, theoritcally, it could kind of do that if he wished) 

      He couldn’t define what was exasperating him more right now; the fact that he lost this damn bet, that shit eating grin on Bixlow’s face or his new duty for the day. In the long run it would probably be the latter, but all three options were certainly succeeding in getting him into a state of disgruntlement. 

      Freed realized that this was entirely on himself, however. Evergreen had even warned him not to accept the conditions but he’d been on a high horse, overestimating his own pokerface skills in this regard and underestimating Bixlow’s in the process. Now he wished that he would have listened to Ever, not that he’d confess this out loud. Why did he have to get tempted by his own competitiveness and the thought of having his best friend in the very situation he himself was in right now? Oh goddammit… 

      There was no going back, though. Whatever he would have to endure, and he could only guess that it would be a couple of unnecessary tasks, more self-satisfied grins and the possible attempt to unnerve him further, he was going to do it. He would take this loss and its inevitable consequences with all the pride he had, no matter how humiliating it would get. Backing down on the conditions was never an option. 

      Admittedly, the one or other threatening sentence lingered on the tip of his eloquent tongue, though they never got to slip past his lips. Instead, after taking a slow breath in order to grasp other thoughts, his lips curved upwards in a clearly faked manner. Unsettling almost, as the smile looked way too bittersweet. Alright. “Good. Let’s get this over with.”

     “Oh, really?” Words were underlined with a small huff, tone of voice remaining rather neutral though the way his lips would curve slightly a moment later revealed a little more about his current mindset. He wouldn’t doubt Evergreen’s words for a second, especially after he had already gotten his fair share of ‘welcome back’ from the seith mage that consisted of typical comments and actions implying shenanigans.

      The Raijinshuu’s captain briefly cast a glance at Bixlow who had found somebody else to chatter with for the time being before directing his unconditional attention back to his fairy queen. “And what about you? Have you been doing alright?” He asked, a softer undertone lacing his deep voice as he did so. Even while looking so annoyed, standing in a typical pose with her arms crossed firmly beneath her chest and a scowl on her face, Freed knew that actually she wasn’t as exasperated as she could look and sound like this by far.

     Wow. What kind of place was Bixlow’s mind at again? Worse, what place did his own mind go right when hearing his best friend’s words? His brilliant brain certainly wasn’t easy to set in a state of  e r r o r, but the series of images that were playing before his inner eye was wild.

      Promptly Freed shook his head, as though in a desperate attempt to not think about this ridiculousness further. “No, Bixlow.” The only verbal response his bestie would get for now.

      That Laxus’ ass was bootylicious beyond great wasn’t up to debate, nor that he liked to admire it but… this? Goddammit.

      He had only been back at the guild for… how long? A few hours at most, perhaps. After returning from a mission he had successfully accomplished, his house had been his first destination just so he could take a shower and get himself something to sate his hunger. A choice that was quick to prepare had to suffice, and then he made his way over to the guild to inform Mirajane about his return and greet his team mates who happened to be present at the hall as well. A positive circumstance, all things considered - it was always good and reassuring to see that his closest friends were safe and sound and as lively as ever. Though that included stuff like this as well; Bixlow sprawling across his lap in a manner that gave even the most perfected drama queen a run for their money.

      Freed rolled his eyes, the reaction natural at this point and hardly something that bothered the seith mage, and then looked down at his friend before he’d possibly begin to whine if he didn’t get the attention he was quite obviously demanding. “Alright. Is there anything new I need to know? I’m certain there’s something that you would die to tell me about.”
