// So, I’ve been thinking about this… Just another thing that makes his Dark Écriture as layered with really damn dark undertones as it is (I mean yea the word ‘dark’ is literally in the magic’s name but y’all know what aspects I’m talking about’).
He had to learn to control it somehow right? To test the effects and ranges and what else he can do right? But it’s not like you can just… test the effect of some spells on something, a training object, materials, etc. etc. It’s not like, for example, elemental magic where you can test the effectiveness of it and if it actually works out just like that. With some spells it’s not like he can just try it out and see if the spells works as it should; like take a flame or a dragon’s roar and see with what power it destroys its surroundings.
Take his torture spells. The effect he sees is his rune(s) but does he get any effect when just testing the spell like that or testing it on an object? Nope. He wouldn’t know. Catch my drift? With spells like these he’s affecting the opponent directly. There’s not much of an outward prove for the spell. He needs something that’s alive to see whether or not spells like these work out as they should, if they have the horrible effects that they’re supposed to have.
The spells that affect himself? Wings, teleportation, Absolute Shadow, Darkness? All no issue since he applies them to himself. He’ll see if it works or not.
But the torture spells? The death spell?
So he must have had living test objects, and very possibly non-human and human. He got to know if they work after all and how strong they can get.
Freed’s notion of fair punishment can be a bit…well, distorted. Distorted as in most likely more or less harsher than actually needed.
Incidents which entail punishment usually mean that rules got broken severely, or somebody just really pissed him off or triggers his dark side that got him his title in the first place. His own rules, whatever he decides is the case, however he wants to establish and bend the case - what can uh make it unfair even quicker. Incidents with severe consequences, damage and maybe ache of different kinds. And for starters we all know what one of his most noticable mottos is:
‘Those who break the rules shall be subjected to a fate worse than death’
How the rules got broken is not of importance. The fact that it happened is enough (although of course, and despite the fact that he is someone who rather decides with his head than with his heart, it does affect him even more if he is specially emotionally involved, if loved ones got hurt for example ). In Freed’s book death is not the ultimate doom. In his eyes death would be way kinder than punishment of the torturing sort, for instance.
He wants to act and judge with justice and fairness but at times he tends to overstate the case when it gets around exerting punishment. Parts of his magics are literally perfect to execute penalty of the torturous sort, physically (for example, Écriture of Darkness: Pain) as well as mentally (for example, Écriture of Darkness: Fear) what would allow him to do huge damage to the culprit’s health in both ways. Hell, his magic is probably even intended for such stuff. It’s meant to harm. It is cruel.
So this would be one of his ‘flaws’. Not saying that he is not able to take a justified decision, but that it could happen that he does take things too far in this matter.

It may also be that I’m not familiar with the series your character is from at all. I’m open for crossovers, though tend to just accept them when I know at least a little bit of the series!

12. I am very picky with OC’s (I need to know who I rp with so they have to have a proper development and enough information) and usually don’t roleplay with multimuse blogs. So please feel not personally offended if I don’t roleplay with you! For example, I don’t follow dragonslayer OCs.

14. I’m more of a spontaneous roleplayer but what I need to plot out is anything battle related because I don’t want to godmod by accident or get to an outcome one of us does not like. Freed is a powerful mage and his magics can be a lil OP not least because of how many possibilities he has and some of the spells he possesses - so that’s another point that has me worried a little and why I wanna plot out fighting scenes between our muses.
